𗡩 [¹hwi₁] 'grey' is constructed from the right side of 𘂁 [²shew₂] 'colour' and the whole of 𗫲 [¹khe₄] (family name; transcription; 'grey' ?) {𘂁𗡼𗫲𘓳} babelstone.co.uk/Tangut/WenhaiL…

𗡩 [¹hwi₁] is a borrowing of Chinese 灰 huī 'grey', and is one of many Tangut characters that apparently mean 'grey', 'greyish', 'ashen', or 'yellowish'. It is little used in surviving texts (there is a single reduplicated occurrence in Proverbs: 𘆠𗡩𗡩 'grey, grey-grey').

Of more interest is the character 𗫲 [¹khe₄] used in the construction of 𗡩 [¹hwi₁] 'grey' as well as 𘍆 [¹la₁] 'grey', 𘍆 [²shon₂] 'grey', and 𘍏 [¹tsi₁] 'greyish', but we'll discuss 𗫲 when its turn comes.
