Sample Files

The following custom input method files are freely available for users of BabelPad. You may modify them as you wish. If you have created a custom input method for BabelPad that you would like to share with other BabelPad users, please email it to me and I will add it to this page.

Ethiopic Tigrinya (Microsoft) Input method for Tigrinya using the mappings defined in Microsoft's Tigrinya Input Method.
Gothic Gothic Keyboard mapping for Gothic.
Han (CJKV) Hanyu Pinyin (simplified and traditional) Mandarin pinyin input method based on readings given in Xiàndài Hànyǔ Cídiǎn 现代汉语词典 (2nd ed., 1983 and 6th ed., 2015) and Tōngyòng Guīfàn Hànzì Zìdiǎn 通用规范汉字字典 (2013), with characters sharing the same reading ordered by frequency. Covers both simplified form and traditional form characters, with traditional forms placed immediately after the corresponding simplified form. Includes 14,805 readings for 13,108 CJK unified ideographs. This is my recommended pinyin input method for single characters.
Hanyu Dazidian (traditional) Mandarin pinyin input method based on readings given in Hànyǔ Dà Zìdiǎn 漢語大字典 (1986-1990). Characters with the same readings are ordered by code point value. Covers traditional form characters only. Includes 44,826 readings for 34,129 CJK unified ideographs. Includes many obscure characters, and many unusual readings for common characters.
Hanyu Dazidian plus Simplified (traditional and simplified) Mandarin pinyin input method based on readings given in Hànyǔ Dà Zìdiǎn 漢語大字典 (1986-1990). Characters with the same readings are ordered by code point value. Covers traditional form and simplified form characters, with simlified forms placed immediately after the corresponidng traditional form. Includes 50,896 readings for 38,134 CJK unified ideographs.
Xiandai Hanyu Cidian 1983 (simplified and traditional) Mandarin pinyin input method based on readings given in Xiàndài Hànyǔ Cídiǎn 现代汉语词典 (2nd ed., 1983). Characters sharing the same reading are ordered by their position in the dictionary. Includes 12,453 readings for 11,055 CJK unified ideographs.
Jyutping (simplified and traditional) Cantonese jyutping input method. Includes 29,294 readings for 23,250 CJK unified ideographs.
Chinese Dayi (Microsoft) Chinese DaYi 大易 input method using the mappings defined in Microsoft's Chinese Traditional DaYi Input Method.
Chinese Array (Microsoft) Chinese Array input method using the mappings defined in Microsoft's Chinese Traditional Array Input Method.
Grammata Serica Recensa Chinese input method using the codes given in Bernard Karlgren's Grammata Serica Recensa (1957). Covers 7,434 CJK unified ideographs.
Vietnamese Input method for Chinese (chữ hán) and Vietnamese (chữ nôm) characters using Vietnamese readings in VIQR transliteration (readings derived from the kVietnamese field in Unihan_Readings.txt in Unihan database v. 11.0).
CangJie5 CangJie input method covering the whole range of Unicode 14.0 CJKV characters plus punctuation, ideographic description characters, and more. This version is neutral with respect to simplified and traditional Chinese characters. Provided and maintained by Charlie Ruland.
CangJie5-Hans CangJie input method covering the whole range of Unicode 14.0 CJKV characters plus punctuation, ideographic description characters, and more. This version gives preference to frequent simplified Chinese characters. Provided and maintained by Charlie Ruland.
CangJie5-Hant CangJie input method covering the whole range of Unicode 14.0 CJKV characters plus punctuation, ideographic description characters, and more. This version gives preference to traditional Chinese characters. Provided and maintained by Charlie Ruland.

Tangut Tangut (stroke codes) Stroke-based input method for Tangut ideographs and radicals based on the stroke codes defined in WG2 N4522 Table 2. Covers all 6,136 Tangut ideographs and 755 Tangut components defined in Unicode 12.0.
Tangut (Miyake) Phonetic input method for Tangut ideographs based on the complex phonetic transcriptions in Marc Miyake's Tangut phonetic database version 1.3.1 (see Tangut Phonetic Database Version 1.0 for explanation).
Tibetan Tibetan Keyboard mapping for Tibetan.
Yi Nuosu Input method for Liangshan Yi - Nuosu phonetic syllables and radicals.
Nuosu (Microsoft) Input method for Liangshan Yi - Nuosu using the mappings defined in Microsoft's Yi Input Method.
